I’m excited to share this first episode of my new podcast with everyone!
I’ve been podcasting since late 2012 for the youth nonprofit organization that I had founded in 1989. It was originally the Berkshire Baseball & Softball Club and then became the BIG Vision Foundation in 2014. I loved podcasting, I loved helping people tell their stories. The title of my original podcast was “Stepping Up to the Plate” and all 267 episodes are still available wherever you listen to podcasts.
When my wife and I decided to sell off all of our belongings and embark on a literal journey across this beautiful country of ours, I wanted podcasting to be a part of it. As you can read in our “About Us” section of the website, this journey was inspired in part by my mother. After she passed, I was mesmerized by reading the letters and journal entries of the people that she met along the way. I wanted to be able to share the stories of the “Many little people, in the many little places” that we’d meet along the way.
The second part of the title is inspired by my favorite music artist, Michael Franti and the opening lyrics of his song, “Gloria.”
It goes like this:
When many little people in many little places,
Do many little things, then the whole world changes,
But sometimes not fast enough for me…
It’s a song about the guardian angels that God places in our lives in our times of trouble and need and it’s a song about the power that many little people can have when they come together and focus on doing good in the world – we can truly be the change that we want to see.
I want to help tell those stories because mainstream media focuses way too much on the bad things in the world and we need to hear more about the good. If you’re one of those many little people, in many little places doing many little things to make the whole world change and want to tell your story, please feel free to reach out to me at dcclouser@gmail.com, I would love to hear your story and help tell it to the world.
In this first episode, my wife and I sit down with our dear friend, and our podcast producer, Toni Reece and tell the story of what we hope to accomplish on this new journey of our life.
