Iranian born, female baseball player, firefighter, Peace Officer, SWAT team member, but most importantly, Woman of God.

In this episode of The Journey of My Mother’s Son podcast, I continue the conversation with my friend, Homa Shafii.  Born and raised in Iran for the first 11 years of her life, her father had the foresight to move to the United States in order to create more opportunities for both him and his family.  His hunch paid off as his daughter used the strong work ethic that he had instilled in her to not just succeed, but excel in male dominated fields.

Baseball wasn’t the only male dominated endeavor that Homa took on and excelled at.  She also became a Firefighter, Peace Officer and first female member of her California SWAT team.

More importantly, her story is one of faith and finding Jesus during one of the darkest times of her life.  While in a toxic relationship and feeling as though her world was falling apart, she took the advice of some friends and went to church one day.  Weeping and feeling broken, she gave her life to Christ.  Looking back, she now thanks God for the trials, tribulations and lessons that He taught her during those difficult times.  Understanding that life is full of peaks and valleys and that God will never give us a valley too low for us to handle, today she walks in faith, not fear.

Using the platform of social media for positive as opposed to negative, she exposes her vulnerabilities in order to bring glory to God.

She loves to help others by inspiring them to find their own faith and trust in God.
