In this episode of “The Journey of My Mother’s Son” podcast, I sit down to talk with Herbert “Flight Time” Lang.

Following an eighteen-year career as a member of the Harlem Globetrotters as a player and coach, Herbert decided it was time for him to inspire others by sharing his worldly experiences with others.

His message is simple – Kindness is Free.

There are several ways in which he inspires others, including speaking, publishing, community outreach programs, as well as television just to name a few.

Herbert feels that as a loving, fair, passionate, and trustworthy leader, he has so much to give back to people. He truly views himself as just a small-town Arkansas kid who has been blessed to have so many amazing life changing opportunities.

He feels that it’s important to treat others even better than you expect to be treated by people. Every major accomplishment in his life has been the direct result of others speaking up for him, trusting, and believing that he would not fail them in doing so.

He was forwarded opportunities he only dreamed of growing up in Brinkley, Arkansas. A little boy who would grow up from the projects of his small town to interacting with governors, presidents, popes, and many other powerful dignitaries around the world.

He never imagined he would have traveled to nearly ninety countries around the world and have the opportunity to be a part of the most well-traveled sports franchise in the world.

He has appeared in many nationwide television commercials as well as reality TV shows, most notably CBS’s The Amazing Race.

As a Harlem Globetrotter, his nickname was “Flight Time.” he now invites us all to take flight with him on a journey through life and around the world and help spread the message that Kindness is Free.
