Nikki LaCroce – The Need for Human Connection

Raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Nikki made a long-awaited move to the west coast in 2017.

It wasn’t long after that Nikki realized relocating was only one of the big changes she needed to make in her life. After spending a decade working in tech, Nikki found herself lacking a sense of fulfillment and made the decision to start therapy in an effort to unearth her purpose.

In early 2021, Nikki experienced what she now refers to as her “personal Armageddon”, as she left a decade long abusive relationship and simultaneously was faced with the unexpected loss of her mother amidst the peak of the pandemic.

Finding a Growth Community

I think that the need for real human connection in the world is greater now than it’s ever been.  It’s something that was stripped from us throughout the pandemic.  It’s also been something that has been faked for decades.  Many businesses nowadays are based on transactions as opposed to relationships.  The entrepreneurs gathered at the Growth Now Summit were people who based the foundation of their business success on relationships as opposed to transactions.  Something else that is slowly being stripped away from us as small businesses struggle to complete in what is a growing global market.  All of my success in the business world was based on relationships.  It was great to be surrounded by other like-minded people who believed in the same philosophy.  People who were more focused on their impact as opposed to their profit margin.

Connection

When Sandy and I started this journey, a big part of it for me was to find that connection that my mother found along her journey.  That real human connection.  Covid stripped that from us in the beginning to an extent, but I am grateful for those who we have connected with so far.  There are too many people to list, and if I try to, I will miss some.  But just know, that if you are reading this, and we’ve been fortunate enough to spend time with you since we’ve been on this journey, those moments, whether long or short are the fuel that continues to feed my soul.  Everyone that we’ve connected with and have been blessed to spend time with thus far, are my kind of weird.  We have nothing to gain from them, and they have nothing to gain from us.  We can just feed off of each other’s presence and friendship.  As I had written in my last blog, this journey has allowed us to connect with some people in person who I had only been connected with through social media prior to us meeting.  The first time that we ever did that, Sandy thought that it was a little bit strange.  She was hesitant, but to this day, she will tell you that one of our most special visits on this journey was with Homa and Andrew Schweers in Virginia.
