A Little Bend, then Back into Idaho

I thought that the first hike that Erin took us on was cool, but the one on Saturday was really awesome!  It was in the woods, no pavement at all and some pretty rocky terrain at times.  Of course, I nailed it.   That trail was nothing for me.  A little while after we started, Erin took my leash from daddy.  Daddy said, “He might not walk too good for you.”  But I like Erin, so I was a real good boy for her while she walked me.  I mean of course, I would go a little crazy when we passed other dogs on the trail, but that’s just me.  Sometimes mommy and daddy and Erin would try to trick me by distracting me when another dog came by, but most times I could see them and smell them.  They did trick me sometimes though.

When we got to the top of where we were hiking, we ate our lunch.  Erin is such a nice person that she packed Turkey sandwiches, and apples, and chips, and granola bars for lunch.  I had mommy and daddy and Erin trained pretty good because they all gave me the last bite of their turkey sandwich.  I even got some chips.  It truly was a wonderful day for me.

We hiked back and I took a nap in Erin’s Jeep on the way back to the campground.

Well, Hello There, Pacific Ocean!

We had finally made it!  Me and mommy and daddy made our zig-zag trek across the country and we’re standing at the top of the hill at the end of Ron’s trail glaring at the Pacific Ocean.  This pup was completely in awe!  It was even bigger than what I had imagined and the waves were just crashing down one after another making a thunderous sound as they cascaded into the sandy beach.

All that I could think of is that I was one lucky puppy.

There were times on this journey out west that I was beginning to wonder if we’d ever get to see the Pacific Ocean.  Daddy just seemed to keep making more and more stops along the way.  Although, I must admit, every one of those stops was pretty amazing in their own right.

Two States twice, One state Thrice

I liked the state park, my daddy and I went for a three-mile walk on the trail loop that was there and it was really pretty.  We went through fields and woods and walked right near the lake.  I wasn’t allowed to go swimming in that lake though because the algae count was too high.  I don’t know what that meant, but I know that my daddy doesn’t ever want me to get sick.

One time when we were at the state park, April and Justin came to our house on wheels and visited me!  I liked them both, other than the fact that they smelled like that Georgia chick.  Although, while they were in my house on wheels, I made sure that I rubbed up against them every chance that I got so that Georgia would smell me when they got back to her!  Two can play that game, girl!

The Dakotas had some really Bad-Lands!

Fargo is where Yankees great, Roger Maris is from.  My daddy might be a Red Sox fan and he really hates the Yankees, but he respects great players, regardless of who they played for.  They had a neat memorial at the campground that we stayed at in Fargo to honor Roger Maris and my daddy thought that was very cool.

Before we got to Lindenwood Campground, which is where we stayed at in Fargo, we went into downtown Fargo to go to the Fargo Arts Festival.  It was neat, I was allowed to walk around with mommy and daddy.  I did pretty good until I started to see all of the other dogs and then I started barking and daddy said that I was embarrassing him again, so he took me back to the house on wheels and he and mommy finished walking around.  I thought to myself, “Sometimes daddy embarrasses me too, and he doesn’t get sent back to the house on wheels.”

The Hawkeye State and 10,000 Lakes

From Wisconsin, we went back south into Iowa.  We were kind of doing some zig-zag sort of route on this trip for sure.  I mean we started in Pennsylvania, then we were in West Virginia for just a little bit and then went to Chillicothe, Ohio, and then back up north to Kent State and Cleveland.  After that, we went up into Michigan and down again into Indiana and then we did a little U-shaped thing through Chicago and Rockford, Illinois before heading up north again into Wisconsin.

Wisconsin sure was Pretty Cheesy!

On our way to that place, we drove right by the stadium where the Milwaukee Brewers play, so of course, daddy had to stop and take some pictures.  I got to get out and walk around with daddy too though, which was really cool.  They have a little league field built right in the parking lot of the major league stadium.  It was really neat and the one nice man that was working there told daddy that home plate was in the exact same spot that home plate was at when old county stadium was there.  Daddy seemed to think that was pretty neat, I was just happy to be walking around with daddy.

This Pup is finally Westward Bound! (Part 2)

We drove for about 2-1/2 hours and then we stopped at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA.

It was a really pretty place, but something terrible happened there back in 2001 before I was even born.  Some really bad people hijacked a plane and were going to fly it into the capital in Washington, DC.  Some of those bad people’s other friends had already crashed planes into the twin towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, DC that same day.  There were some brave people on that plane, and they forced it down and made it crash into this field that we were at instead of the capital.  Those brave people would never get to see their families or puppies ever again.  I couldn’t understand why people would want to hurt people that they don’t even know.

Mommy and daddy seemed sad at times when we walked around.  I wasn’t able to go inside the buildings, but I was able to walk around the outside trails with mommy and daddy.  I helped to keep them happy if they started to get too sad.  A lot of people would come up to pet me and I helped them from getting too sad as well.

My daddy’s mommy helped in the recovery of the place in New York where the planes crashed, it was called Ground Zero.  My daddy thinks about his mommy a lot when he goes to places that refer to 9/11.  Daddy says that she was a great human.  Daddy doesn’t know this, but I have met his mommy.  You see us dogs have a sixth sense that humans don’t have, so I actually talk to my daddy’s mommy quite a bit.  She’s a cool spirit now.

I heard that there were some golden retriever’s that helped at Ground Zero too, I could have been one of those dogs for sure.  I would have been really good at that.

My Knoebel’s Adventure

Before we left, I had no idea what a Knoebel’s was, but I was really excited to go because of hearing my mommy and daddy talk about how much they were looking forward to going to this Knoebel’s place.  So, I just knew that it must be a pretty neat place if my mommy and daddy were that excited about it.  I was also really excited about going because I had heard that we were meeting Aunt Cheryl, and Rebecca, and Julian, and Matthew up there.  Then I heard that on one of the days that we were going to be there, that Uncle Donnie, and Aunt Kathy, and Daniel were going to be there too!  I thought to myself, “Wow, how awesome is this going to be!”

We were at Stephie and Eric’s house for a few days before we went to Knoebel’s.  When we started packing up the house on wheels, I started to get a little bit confused because mommy wasn’t with us in the house on wheels.  Then my daddy explained to me that Lillian and Garrett were going to be riding with us in the house on wheels and mommy would be riding with Stephie in her car.  Then I was ok with everything.

Nine States in Six Days

We hadn’t been in Florida for too long this time, only about a month.  It was enough time for us to get all of our things fixed up on our house on wheels and mommy and daddy got to celebrate birthdays with four cousins.

For the first celebration, it was the biggest one that we went to.  We went down to West Palm Beach to celebrate with my daddy’s cousin, Jim and his daughter, Jen.  A whole bunch of my daddy’s other cousins and family members were there too.  It was Jim’s 60th birthday and his daughter’s 35th birthday.  There were so many people there.  There were even cousins there that my daddy never even met before.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet too many of them because I had to stay in the RV Park, but that’s ok, my mommy and daddy had fun.

Out and Back in One Day

But this was a different kind of moving than what we normally do.  On Thursday night, mommy and daddy started packing things up in our house on wheels.  Daddy unhooked everything and put our slides in like we going to be moving, but then we didn’t move on Thursday night.  We actually slept inside Aunt Sally and Uncle Randy’s house on Thursday night.  I was a little bit confused because our house on wheels was still in their yard.  Normally, if we sleep in Aunt Sally and Uncle Randy’s house, our house on wheels isn’t in the yard, but this time it still was.  Although, I was confused, I didn’t care too much because I like going inside Aunt Sally and Uncle Randy’s house.  There are always a few little snacks under Uncle Randy’s chair, so I just clean those up for him.

When we first go into their house, I look all around and sniff the entire place to make sure that everything is ok.  It’s always ok, but I still have to just make sure.

So Many Places, So Many Smells

We woke up really early in the morning and left Stephen and Sherry’s house, where we had been for over three weeks.  I like going to Stephen and Sherry’s house.  They have a neat trail behind their house and lots of hills for me and daddy to walk on.

When we’re at Stephen and Sherry’s house Lizze and Alex love being around me.  Lizze goes on walks with me and mommy and daddy.  If mommy and daddy go to see some friends then Alex will feed me and give me treats and one time he even came out to our house on wheels and hung out with me and did his homework.  It was really fun.  I like Alex.  He’s really nice to me.
