In this episode of “The Journey of My Mother’s Son” podcast, I sit down to talk with Mike and Ginny Walsh.
Mike and Ginny are another amazing couple that we’ve been blessed to meet through A Year to Volunteer. We first met them when we dropped in for a day at the Vancleave, Mississippi project. We then worked with them at the Y2V2 project in Roan Mountain, Tennessee.
Mike is a retired San Antonio Fire Fighter and Ginny is a retired teacher and librarian. After two successful careers in service, they decided that they wanted to continue giving back in their retirement as well.
Initially looking into volunteering with the National Park Service, the time commitment wasn’t feasible as they were still the caregivers for their aging parents.
A YouTube video about A Year to Volunteer led them to reach out to Phil and Shar Roos and the rest is history. Four projects under their belt and no end in sight.
