Hey Texas, Thanks for the Grass, but you can keep the Sand Spurs!

Even though mommy and daddy went into the city every day that we were in San Antonio, they made sure to spend some quality time with me too.  We walked along the cool trail that bordered the campground each day.  We would walk at least a mile or two.  I love taking walks with mommy and daddy.  We even went over and played in Kamp K-9 at the campground.  Kamp K-9 is what the KOA campgrounds call their dog parks.  Every other campground that we’ve been in that has a dog park just calls them, “dog park,” but KOA calls them Kamp K-9.  It must be some sort of marketing thing, I guess.  I think that every KOA that we’ve stayed at has a Kamp K-9, but this one was definitely one of the biggest.

I was sad to leave San Antonio because I really liked it there, but we had to get to Houston to have some things done to the house on wheels.  Daddy and the house on wheels had a little run in with a large tree branch back in Phoenix and the back ladder on the house on wheels got mangled up a little bit.  So, because of that we had to get to the Lazy Days service center just outside of Houston.  We also had to get the oil changed on the generator in the house on wheels.

Arizona was long, New Mexico was Short, Neither had Grass

I did like Arizona though, it was really nice, but there was hardly any grass around that whole state.  I didn’t understand that at all.  I mean where was a pup supposed to pee and poop without any grass?  There was a lot of sand and rocks and pavement, but no grass.  It was so confusing, but I adapted.  I learned that if I had to pee or poop, I could just let it fly no matter where I was at.  In the sand, go potty, on the rocks, go potty, I even pooped right in the middle of the street a couple times.  Daddy would give me a dirty look when I did that, but you know what, I didn’t care.  I had to go and they had me a state that didn’t have any grass, so if I went poop in the middle of the street, that’s just where it was going to happen!  I told daddy that you can’t hold what you don’t have in your paw.

Utah Sure was Salty and Red

We drove into Ogden, Utah and stayed at another Cracker Barrel.  I heard mommy talking to Aunt Cheryl on the phone the other day, and Aunt Cheryl told mommy that she should order a side order of bacon to go and bring it to me in the house on wheels the next time that we go to a Cracker Barrel.  So, I was really excited that we were at another Cracker Barrel!  That’s why I love Aunt Cheryl so much, she has great ideas!  Did you know that when we go to stay at Aunt Cheryl’s house that she always has a bag of bacon already cooked up just for me?  She keeps it in the refrigerator, so we just need to heat it up (or just eat it cold).  I don’t care either way.   It’s pretty awesome.  I mean she says that it’s for her and mommy and daddy too, but I know that she really does it just for me!  I’ll let mommy and daddy think that it’s for them too, but it will be me and Aunt Cheryl’s little secret that it’s really just for me.

A Little Bend, then Back into Idaho

I thought that the first hike that Erin took us on was cool, but the one on Saturday was really awesome!  It was in the woods, no pavement at all and some pretty rocky terrain at times.  Of course, I nailed it.   That trail was nothing for me.  A little while after we started, Erin took my leash from daddy.  Daddy said, “He might not walk too good for you.”  But I like Erin, so I was a real good boy for her while she walked me.  I mean of course, I would go a little crazy when we passed other dogs on the trail, but that’s just me.  Sometimes mommy and daddy and Erin would try to trick me by distracting me when another dog came by, but most times I could see them and smell them.  They did trick me sometimes though.

When we got to the top of where we were hiking, we ate our lunch.  Erin is such a nice person that she packed Turkey sandwiches, and apples, and chips, and granola bars for lunch.  I had mommy and daddy and Erin trained pretty good because they all gave me the last bite of their turkey sandwich.  I even got some chips.  It truly was a wonderful day for me.

We hiked back and I took a nap in Erin’s Jeep on the way back to the campground.

Well, Hello There, Pacific Ocean!

We had finally made it!  Me and mommy and daddy made our zig-zag trek across the country and we’re standing at the top of the hill at the end of Ron’s trail glaring at the Pacific Ocean.  This pup was completely in awe!  It was even bigger than what I had imagined and the waves were just crashing down one after another making a thunderous sound as they cascaded into the sandy beach.

All that I could think of is that I was one lucky puppy.

There were times on this journey out west that I was beginning to wonder if we’d ever get to see the Pacific Ocean.  Daddy just seemed to keep making more and more stops along the way.  Although, I must admit, every one of those stops was pretty amazing in their own right.
